Appalachian Ohio Fiber Guild

fiber guild 1st anniversary

The Appalachian Ohio Fiber Guild was formed in January 2007, under the direction of Marlene Gruetter of Scottown, Ohio.  “Fiber” is as specific as one can get for the collaborative efforts of this group, as member interests range from knitting, crocheting, spinning and felting, to tatting, weaving and sewing!  The Guild meets on the third Sunday of each month, from 2 pm until 5 pm, in the second floor classroom at Riverby.

Their mission is to bring awareness of natural fiber and its possibilities as an art form and business opportunity.  There are many benefits from joining the Guild.  One can learn how to harvest and use animal fibers in an artistic way, with demonstrations and workshop opportunities available at the meeting site or by scheduled fieldtrips.

Members are encouraged to explore different tools and techniques, while sharing the experience with each other.  There is no membership fee and meetings are open to anyone interested.

If you would like to join, please contact Marlene Gruetter at marlene@feltingmadness.com,  or 740/256-1866.
