The FAC is proud to present Sally Thompson and Jo Etta Lynch.  Sally Thompson’s work features life sized oil portraits while Jo Etta Lynch uses clay pieces to portray the beautiful and unique structures of the face.

Sally Thompson is a self-taught artist residing in Toledo, Ohio.  She has been painting since 1994 and enjoys working in various mediums with diversified subject matter and alternative perspectives, sometimes all in the same painting.  As stated in her biography, “While exploring all these artistic options is fun I always seem to return to making life sized oil paintings of people.  I work from life in one or two sessions, stark and simple I attempt to capture more than features.”  Several of Sally’s portraits will be featured in the exhibit.   Sally’s artwork was also featured in the May 2009 French Art Colony Exhibit’s Toledo Exchange.  She has exhibited in various art shows, including Toledo’s Artists’ Club (Toledo, Ohio), Rosewood Gallery (Kettering, Ohio), and Salon des Refuses (Toledo, Ohio).

Jo Etta Lynch studied studio art at Anderson University in Indiana. In her biography Jo Etta states “The human form has always intrigued me, but my interest in portrait sculpture was developed after years of working with the public.”   Jo Etta often uses boneware for her pieces as it stays soft and pliable for as long as she desires.  This type of clay enables her to return to a piece for as long as it takes.  Finished pieces become bone hard when dry, which is why she uses boneware since she does not use a kiln to fire pieces.  Jo Etta has exhibited her pieces at the Cream of the Crop (Portsmouth, Ohio).  Jo Etta is the current owner and operator of “The Frame Up Gallery &Café Zeal” in Ashland, Kentucky.
